There’s a new crew at the helm of the Western Group of Motoring Writers.

At their annual general meeting courtesy of Mitsubishi Motors in Cirencester, Robin Roberts stepped up from vice-chairman to become the chairman.

He effectively swopped “bunks” after two years with John Kendall, who took on the role of vice-chairman with special responsibility for overseeing the annual Western Group Driving Day alongside honorary member Alyson Marlow.

Founding group member and now honorary treasurer is John Kerswill, replacing Ross Durkin, who has stepped down after four years in the post.

A new face in the team is Steve Grant, who will be the secretary of the group.

Robin, who is owner and editor of WheelsWithinWales news agency and website, has served as chairman and vice-chairman on previous occasions.

He said, “I was delighted to step up and lead the group, which is one of the oldest and most respected in the country, at a time when the entire media industry is going through a sea-change and it’s more important than ever to help motoring writers do their jobs while working with the motor industry to ensure their messages reach readers and buyers.”

The Western Group is grateful to Mitsubishi Motors for hosting the AGM and details of next year’s #DD2016 event will be released very soon.
