A team from the headquarters of Mitsubishi Motors UK has raised nearly £2,000 for a cancer charity.

The group, who took part in Race for Life at Cirencester Park on Sunday, 20 July, have been praised by the organisers for their fantastic efforts in support of Cancer Research UK.

The team of 11 women also held a fundraising car wash at the Mitsubishi Specialist Vehicle Operations (MSVO) centre at Love Lane Industrial Estate, Cirencester, on July 5, and the combined total from the two events is now £1,941 with more money still coming in.

Verity May, PA to the MD of the company Lance Bradley, who organised the team, said, “We had a great day taking part in Race for Life at Cirencester Park. It was very hot but we all finished and we’re really pleased we’ve managed to raise so much money. We took part in Race for Life last year and raised £1,600 and we were determined to beat that this year so it’s great.”

The team from the headquarters at Watermoor, Cirencester, are already looking forward to taking part in next year’s event.

Michelle Leighton, Cirencester Event Manager for Race for Life said: “It was an amazing day in Cirencester. We had fantastic weather and a great turn out in terms of people taking part and supporters cheering them on. It was amazing to see the Mitsubishi team and it’s great that they had so many people in one team. They have raised a fantastic amount of money, it’s really impressive and it’s a great result for our very worthy cause. Well done to them!”

The staff from the Cirencester headquarters who took part along with Verity are: Fleet and Used Car Administrator Allison May; Payroll Advisor Sarah Wiltshire; Secretary to GM Product Planning and Incentives Amanda Thompson; PA to the MD of finance Mitsubishi; Jo Johnson; Deputy General Council Carolyn Stephenson; Network Administrator Julie Smith; Inventory Order Controller Lucy Cuss; Production Controller Becky Beasley; Receptionist Justine Hitchman and Training Apprentice Administrator Erika Slater.

A CHILDREN’S charity has saved nearly £12,000 thanks to a Mitsubishi dealership group donating two vehicles to help it carry out its vital work.

WellChild, which helps seriously ill children and their families across the UK, has saved enough money to pay for 540 hours of nursing support. CCR Mitsubishi has lent the charity an Outlander and an ASX – after it racked up more than 20,000 miles on two vehicles it was loaned seven months ago.

Colin Dyer, Chief Executive of the Cheltenham-based charity, said having the vehicles had saved them money that would have been spent on hire cars and train travel.

He said, “We are seven months into the partnership with CCR Mitsubishi and already having two cars has saved us £11,845. That obviously has a really important impact on our work because all of that money will be ploughed back into our programmes for children and young people – all of which means CCR Mitsubishi has already had a really important impact on our work right across the UK.”

WellChild took delivery of a brand new Mitsubishi Outlander and a Mitsubishi ASX at CCR Mitsubishi’s Cheltenham and Gloucester dealership in the Meteor Business Park, Cheltenham Road East, Staverton. The CCR group has 10 other dealerships across the south of England.

Tim Bagnall, Managing Director of CCR Mitsubishi, said, “WellChild are a national charity but they are based locally so we were keen to help them. It’s fantastic to hear that the first two vehicles we lent them have saved them so much money. The important thing is it means all that money can go into making a real difference to children’s lives.”

WellChild provides essential practical and emotional support for seriously ill children, young people and those who care for them to ensure they receive the best possible quality of care. The patron of the charity is Prince Harry. For more information go to wellchild.org.uk.
