Happy New Year to you all.
There’s a lot to be excited about as we enter 2026.
First and foremost, the most important day in our calendar is all set for Thursday, June 4.
It’s particularly significant this year, because we’re staging our annual Driving Day at its new home for the first time.
After three successful years at the Haynes Motor Museum, we’ve chosen historic Stanton Manor Hotel at Stanton St Quintin, Wiltshire, for DD26.
Ideally located along the M4 corridor (just off junction 17 near Chippenham), not only is it a lovely venue, but there are two rapid charging stations (EV Power and Ionity) within a few minutes’ drive.
We’re hoping that the new location will make our Driving Day more accessible for guests from the major car manufacturers. As usual, invitations will be sent out to the PRs this month.

We’re also liaising with Kia about a possible range drive day in 2026, so I will keep you posted on that too.
As if all that isn’t enough, I’m delighted to share the news that we have two (hopefully three) prospective new members for 2026 already. If all goes well, I will be able to introduce you to them here over the coming months. They are all keen and we think they will make great additions to the WGMW.
On the car launch front, 2026 promises to be a cracker. From a British point of view, the rebirth of Jaguar as an upmarket, all-electric brand will perhaps be the highlight.
One thing’s for sure – the avalanche of new brands and models from China is set to continue.
And who knows, maybe by the end of 2026 the UK government will follow the EU’s lead, watering down the 2035 ban on the sale of ICE cars and hybrids?
Finally, a few members have suggested organising a social event with partners this year. This sounds like a great idea, and the sooner we get a sub-committee together to start working on this, the better. Would anyone like to volunteer?
Here’s to a healthy and successful 2026.
